William A. Bosworth: Possibly a younger brother to Sumner.
William A. who received Land Patents In the following counties:
William A. Bosworth- May 13,1835- Marion Co.- 160 acres- NE 1/4,Sec. 21,R17E, TP4S
William A. Bosworth- Sep. 13,1835- Marion Co.- 80 acres- W 1/2,SE ¼,Sec. 20,R17E, TP4S

William A. Bosworth- Aug.20,1838- Washington Co.- 49 60/100th. Acres- SW ¼, SW ¼,Sec 03,R6W,TP1N
It is also possible this is the same William A. Bosworth whom I have a partial land deed for, in which he was land dealing with
Sumner, John Brice and Samuel Mobley in 1851. I do know John B. and Samuel where brother-in-laws to Sumner and maybe to William also. This land was where Sumner has his cooperage shop at Newport being the same parcel that was involved with the 3 aforementioned parties.
Sumner would have been age 38 and William maybe about 36. That would have made William about age 20 when he received the Land Patents.
William enlisted: May 28,1862; Aug. 06,1862; Jun.18,1864; Aug.021864;

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that some of the Bosworths had changed their name to "BoYsworth". If I ever come across one in my genealogical research, I'll know that we are probably related.
I was just admitted into the Mayflower Society 2 weeks ago. I would guess that practically every Bosworth in the U.S. is also descended from John Howland of the Mayflower. Since Jonathan Bosworth arrived in 1634 and married John Howland's daughter Hannah in 1635...they had at least 10 children. Also, anyone who is descended from the Revolutionary War veteran Jabin Bosworth of Connecticut and later New York is also a Mayflower descendant through John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. This is because Jabin Bosworth's marriage to Luna West. Luna West is the one who had the Alden/Mullins ancestorage.
Hannah Howland married Jonathan Bosworth. Hannah was the daughter of John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley. John, Elizabeth and Elizabeth's parents were all on the Mayflower. John and Joan Hurst Tilley, her parents died the first winter, along with her uncle and aunt, Edward and Ann Cooper Tilley.
For some good Mayflower information go to www.mayflowerhistory.com.
I am descended from the Tilleys and John Howland through daughter Hannah Howland Bosworth's daughter Hannah who married Nathaniel Jenks.
I strongly suspect I am related to Hobart Bosworth, but have been unable to prove it....exactly. However, the pieces to the puzzle seem to be a probable match. If we're related, he would be some type of uncle, since I have my line from the Bosworths, pretty well traced, already.
My line is descended from Hezekiah Bosworth Jr., out of Meigs County, Ohio (very close to Marietta, Ohio and directly across the river from Parkersburg, W. Virginia). These Bosworth’s came to Meigs County (the Ohio Valley), in the early part of the 1800s, where they came out of the Albany, NY area. I am wondering if Hobart is descended from Hezekiah also, through one of Hezekiah's many children.
By the way, Hezekiah Bosworth is a proven Mayflower line (both Howland and Alden). Also, DAR through Jabin Bosworth from Stephenstown, NY (Albany).
We have some film clips from one of the DW Griffith films Hobart was in. Hobart must have been in his late 50s early 60s and was playing General Robert E. Lee, in the movie.
Hobart is definitely a fascinating character, from what I have learned about his life (leaving home at the age of 12 to become a cabin boy on a ship off the Ohio River, his friendship with Jack London, etc..).
Any light you could shed on the mystery of Hobart's ancestry into the Ohio Valley, would be appreciated.
